Artist bio for ear-pin designer

Thor Holoch

I was born in Urbana, Illinois in 1978. At around the age of 3, my parents moved my younger brother and me to Austin, Texas. For about the next 10 years, both mom and dad ran a button business in the heart of downtown 6th Street. Dad became known as “The Button Man of Austin, Texas”. In the early 90’s, my family and I moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. This is where they all still reside and where in the early 90s we started to dabble in handmade jewelry. The mid 90’s is when we started to develop a line of jewelry we called Ear-Art. Ear-Art consisted of pretty much every type of earring that we had ever seen or could imagine. I made my first Ear-Pin around 1997. It was not until I met my better half, Lindsay, in 2001 and we joined forces in business. In 2002 we decided to focus our energy on Ear-Pins and pretty much design them exclusively. It was at that time we went from having a few designs to an infinite selection of one-of-a-kind creations. Lindsay and I moved to Chicago in 2004 in an attempt to broaden our horizon with Ear-Pins. We both realized over the course of the next year that the extra business added by living in Chicago was not worth the separation from our immediate family back in Arkansas. We moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas in 2005 where we still reside.

I have a tremendous passion for the eco-friendly activity of Disc Golf as well as spend countless volunteer hours promoting the sport. I also try to take part in every eco-friendly project that crosses my path, from installing college recycling centers to pushing cities to develop networks of bicycle lanes for the infamous urban commute. Either way, it’s all in a days work while being eco-eclectic.
 

All ear-pin designs are 100% handmade by either Thor or Lindsay Holoch. The only metals they use in their work is Sterling Silver (.925) or 14kt Gold-Filled. It is all American made, federally regulated, hypo-allergenic metal.
